FLANDERS UNESCO FUST-OCEAN EXPO WEEK IN BRUSSELS

On 14 and 15 May, the FUST Ocean Event took place at the Herman Teirlinck Building in Brussels. The Ocean event highlighted 20 years of cooperation between Flanders and UNESCO. Fust Ocean Event was co-organized by IOC-UNESCO, Department of Economy, Science and Innovation (EWI) and the Flanders Marine Institute (VLIZ).

20 years ago Flanders has created two trust funds to streamline the cooperation with UNESCO: the Flanders UNESCO Science Trust Fund (FUST) and the General Trust Fund (FUT). Through the UNESCO/Flanders Fund-in-Trust (FUST), Flanders contributes to a sustainable future for our oceans and coastal areas. FUST Ocean Event brought together more than 100 experts on ocean science and sustainability to debate how they can collaborate to match ocean research to societal needs. All projects demonstrated their achievements in a visually strong exposition. The expo was accessible throughout the entire week (14-18 May)
